The cost of a Shinkansen ticket between Kagoshima-Chuo and Kumamoto varies. For a non-reserved seat, the price is approximately 6,700 to 7,000 yen. A reserved seat in a standard car can cost between 7,200 to 7,500 yen, depending on the service and time of travel. Japan Rail Pass holders can use the pass for this route at no additional cost, with the exception of Mizuho trains which, with certain types of passes, may require a supplement or have usage restrictions. The Shinkansen journey from Kagoshima-Chuo to Kumamoto generally takes between 45 and 60 minutes.
