Villa SHINOBI -忍- is the ideal place for travelers looking for a relaxed getaway in the japanese countryside. Nestled on the peaceful island of Kashirajima, in Bizen, the villa is surrounded by bamboos and offers comfort and privacy. Its Japanese Zen garden and the panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea create an exceptional picture. Stopping at Villa SHINOBI -忍- means choosing an unforgettable cultural experience away from the beaten tracks.

A comfortable villa in a serene and rich nature

The interior decor of the villa is based on the Taisho-Roman aesthetic and offers a balance between a traditional Japanese decor and European inspirations. The vintage-style western bedroom is equipped with a queen-size double bed. Two "washitsu", tatami rooms, allow you to lay down up to six futons (three in each room).
The open kitchen is fully equipped for families or groups of friends who want to cook together.
In the living room, you will find a large kotatsu table, a comfortable sofa and a massaging chair. The living room is also equipped with a FIRE TV stick and a projector to watch your favorite programs on Amazon and Netflix. For karaoke fans, two microphones are available. The bathroom is equipped with a sauna entirely at your disposal (two people at a time maximum).

A villa located right by the sea

The town of Bizen, located by the sea and famous for the fish and seafood, is also known for its traditional ceramics, “Bizenyaki”. It is possible to visit the ceramic galleries of Bizen by going to the Imbe district. We also advise nature lovers to take a walk around the island. On your way, you will find the Tanuki-yama observatory, which offers a view of the Hinase archipelago.

Do you want an unforgettable Japanese culinary experience? You can choose to dine at an affiliated inn, Oyaji no Umi, or have the meal delivered at the villa. When booking accommodation, on demand, we will send you a form to complete with the number of people and the activities in which you wish to participate: meals, kimono fitting, ferry, fishing, massage...
The owners offer to pick you up at Okayama station for 5,000yen. You can also choose to get picked up from Hinase station for free.

Nagoya Station, a major junction on the Tokaido Shinkansen line, is renowned for its varied selection of Ekiben, the bento box meals enjoyed on trains. Among the local specialties often included in these boxes are miso katsu (pork cutlet with miso sauce) or hitsumabushi (grilled eel). These Ekiben offer a culinary introduction to the Aichi region even before arriving at your final destination of Kyoto.

Frequently asked questions

To travel from Nagoya to Kyoto, the most common and fastest option is the Shinkansen bullet train, operating on the Tokaido Shinkansen line. Three types of Shinkansen serve this route: the Nozomi, the Hikari, and the Kodama. The Nozomi is the fastest, completing the journey in approximately 35 minutes, but it is not covered by the Japan Rail Pass. The Hikari and Kodama Shinkansen are covered by the Japan Rail Pass; the Hikari takes about 40-45 minutes, while the Kodama, which stops at all stations, takes about 1 hour. Local trains are also available, but the journey time is significantly longer and typically involves several transfers.

The cost of a Shinkansen ticket between Nagoya and Kyoto varies depending on the type of train and the seat chosen. For a non-reserved seat, the price is generally around 5,170 yen. A reserved seat costs approximately 5,800 yen for a Hikari or Kodama, and about 6,000 yen for a Nozomi. We recommend checking current prices at the time of booking, as they may vary slightly depending on seasons and peak travel periods.

The local train journey from Nagoya to Kyoto is a more economical option, but it is considerably longer. It takes approximately 2 to 2 hours and 30 minutes of travel time, typically including one or more transfers, for example at Maibara or Yasu. The cost is approximately 2,640 yen. We recommend this option for travelers whose budget is a priority and who have ample time.

Yes, discount options exist for the Shinkansen on this route. The 'Puratto Kodama Economy Plan' (or Platt Kodama) is a specific offer that allows you to travel on a Kodama Shinkansen at a reduced fare. This plan requires advance booking and specific constraints, including fixed trains and seats without easy modification or refund options. It is not available for same-day purchase. The Japan Rail Pass also covers the Hikari and Kodama Shinkansen. However, for a single Nagoya-Kyoto journey, purchasing a Japan Rail Pass is generally not economical, unless it is part of a broader and longer travel itinerary justifying its overall cost.
